Item Details
For your consideration are two Hubley Manufacturing Company cast iron Western style toys circa 1910-30s. The Hubley Manufacturing Company was an American producer of a wide range of cast-iron toys, door stops, and bookends. The first Hubley toys appeared in 1909 and were made of cast-iron, with themes that ranged from horse-drawn vehicles and different breeds of dogs, to tractors, steam shovels and guns. The first toy is a horse drawn carriage with one driver and two horses. The carriage is removable from the front wheels, along with the driver on the seat. There is a wheel under the horses to aid the toys ability to roll around. The carriage shows signs of oxidization throughout. The horses has once been painted full white but has since flaked and chipped off throughout much of the horses. The second and smaller piece is a cast iron horse drawn sulky with a jockey. It shows its original silver colored paint throughout and the jockey in a bent position racing the horse. The wheels on the back spin freely and under the horse is a fixed metal ring to help aid the toy move across surfaces. Both toys show good condition overall with wear present from thier age and use over the years but no signs of obvious damage is noted. The larger toy measures 10 3/4" L x 3 1/8" W x 4 7/8" H, the smaller measures 5 3/4" L x 2 1/2" W x 3 1/4" H. They have a collective weight of 4 pounds and 4 ounces.
